Paula Beltgens has been a consultant and learning facilitator since the late 80s, working in complex environments such as healthcare, peacekeeping, social justice, and land use. She supports individuals, teams and systems in identifying and building on strengths, increasing capacity, achieving strategic goals, and effectively navigating change.
Paula also facilitates workshops on leadership development, team building, instructional skills, and participatory action research and incorporates a variety of innovative tools and methods in her work, including Appreciative Inquiry, Open Space, World Cafe and Focused Conversations. She also works with clients on workforce development strategies, program development and learning supports (e.g., curriculum, manuals and visual aids). Paula has a broad educational background that includes adult education, counselling and coaching as well as information and knowledge management technologies. For many years, Paula was a Geographic Information Systems instructor and her unique blend of social and technological skills are an asset to any project. Her clients include governmental and non-governmental agencies, academic institutions, aboriginal organizations and various United Nations entities, both at headquarters and in the field. In addition to her work with organizational clients, Paula has been part of the faculty team for leadership programs at Royal Roads University, the Government of Alberta and, most recently, with the United Nations System Staff College in Italy. David Scott is a co-owner of EnCompass Consultants Inc. David's fascination with information management and cartography comes from his 20 years of working at sea as a ship's officer.
David provides consulting expertise and production services in Knowledge Management, specializing in Geographic Information Systems. He is interested in making complex information accessible for community processes and decision-making. For the past 15 years David has worked closely with First Nations in British Columbia, Canada, supporting community development through land use planning and sharing knowledge.
David has completed a Master of Arts in Distributed Learning Technologies and Design at Royal Roads University. His thesis explores knowledge management for small distributed organizations, such as First Nations fisheries departments.
